There is no doubt that I love The Nightmare Before Christmas. I am a Halloween loving girl and Jack Skellington with his crew of spooky HalloweenTown friends make my spooky heart flutter! So, when it comes to making Halloween desserts and Halloween treats,  also make sure to include him!

On my blog other, BigBearsWife.com, you can find Jack Skellington Macarons, Jack Skellington Rice Krispie Treats, Jack Skellington Dipped Oreos,   Jack Skellington Chocolate Apples and now this amazing Jack Skellington Dessert Cheese Ball!

What you need for a Jack Skellington Dessert Cheese Ball:

• cream cheese, softened
• butter, softened
• powdered sugar
• mini chocolate chips
• vanilla extract
• sweetened shredded coconut
• Chocolate Candy Melts

How to keep the cheese ball shape:

While the cheese ball is in the fridge chilling it can loose its shape if you don’t wrap it, but I like to go a step further and make sure it really keeps the shape by sitting it down into a bowl.

So, once your cheese ball mixture is ready to go into the fridge, lay a piece of plastic wrap on a flat surface and spoon mixture into the center.

Roll and fold cheese ball into a  ball, wrapping it in the plastic wrap. Place into a bowl to help it hold its shape.

Place wrapped ball into the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (or overnight)

What to cover the cheese ball in:

I choose shredded coconut for this  Cheese Ball but you could also try covering it in white chocolate chips instead!

When you’re ready to serve, just remove cheese ball from fridge and remove plastic wrap.

Place on serving place and cover in shredded coconut.

Melt Chocolate Candy Melts according to package.

Let cool slightly and pour into a piping bag.

Snip a very small hole at the end of the piping bag and use the candy melts to draw Jack’s face onto the cheese ball.

What to serve with the Jack Skellington Dessert Cheese Ball:

You can really serve anything you want with this dessert l but I picked out these bone shaped graham crackers and they were perfect! I mean they go perfect with the “Bone Daddy” dessert haha.

I just dipped them in the chocolate candy melts and then drizzled them with some white chocolate candy melts to make them match Jack!

I love how this dessert turned out and I know he will be making an appearance at out Halloween dinner party this year!

Ingredients

• 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut

Instructions

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer and mix together cream cheese and butter until smooth

Mix in powdered sugar! Mix well.

Add in vanilla and add 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips. Mix Well

If you’ve read my food blog, BigBearsWife.com you have probably noticed that when Halloween comes around, there is a bit of a Nightmare Before Christmas theme happening! I mean after all I did make Jack Skellington Apples, I’ve made Jack Skellington Oreos, I’ve decorated the house in a The Nightmare Before Christmas theme and our pumpkins have even been carved as Jack and Sally before!

So what else did I need to add the “Nightmare Before Christmas” touches to the house? Why I needed Sally’s Potion Bottles of course!

Sally uses these potions when she makes soup for Dr. Finkelstein in the movie! The Deadly Night Shade puts him to sleep so that she can sneak out

Now I’ve got my own Worms Wort, Frog’s Breath, and Deadly Night Shade! Oh did you want your own bottles too? Good! I’ll show you how I made mine!

Stick the label onto the first bottle!

Let dry!

Repeat these steps for the other two bottles!

Ahhh they’re just perfect for my coffee table, don’t you think?!!

and Frog’s Breath….. there’s nothing more suspicious than Frog’s Breath!

Oh and what completes the display of Sally’s Potion Bottles? Why it’s Sally’s spoon! In the movie, Sally used a spoon with holes in it to “taste” the soup to show Dr. Finkelstein that she didn’t poison it! Haha little does he know that she’s using the spoon with holes for the taste test!

I love “The Nightmare Before Christmas” so I am so excited to share Karyn’s post and tutorial for these cake pops!! – Angie, Southern Halloween Queen

I can’t believe “The Nightmare Before Christmas” came out in 1993. 1993!! I was 17 and just graduating from High School in 1993. It took me until 2011, when I finally bought the movie for my daughter, for me to watch it. Now, it’s one of our favorite movies. We have the CD and sing along in the car. Sometimes my Little Cup is actually with me… Other times, well, I guess I just like to sing in the car.

Anyway, I know that Jack Skellington cake pops have been done over and over, but when I found some craft tape, I thought about dressing him up in his black pinstripe suit! Voila! Jack is complete!

JACK SKELLINGTON CAKE POP TUTORIAL

DRESS UP JACK

To make decorated sticks, find some fun black and white striped washi tape at the craft store. Roll out some tape and lay the stick on it leaving 3/4 to 1 inch empty at the top. This is where your cake pop will go.

hen cut the tape at the bottom and just roll the tape around the lollipop stick. EASY!

To give him a diagonal design, start the tape at a 45 degree angle and wrap it. The more severe the angle, the less overlap of the tape you will have.

Once your sticks are dressed up, make your cake pops.

DRAW ON JACK’S FACE

To draw on Jack’s face, I first used my Cookie Icing. This stuff is SOOOOO much better than food coloring pens. Yes, it’s a bit more difficult to work with, but the results are way better! Pour out a small amount onto some wax paper and use a toothpick to draw on the features.

Odd shaped eyes that are fuller on the bottom, two slits for a nose and a stitched up mouth.

The Cookie Icing is “liquid” and it does pool your design. I had to drag my toothpick across his stitch marks a few times because it would pull back to the mouth. In the end, I loved the high gloss and shine of his features.

Then I tried to make his face with black candy melts in a baggie.

I snipped off a small corner and then piped on his face.

It gave a more 3-D design, but I felt that the black dried a bit dull.

Finally, to finish him off, he needed his over-sized bow tie.

I folded over the tape, leaving a 1/2 inch overhang and cut the design out. I kind of pinched the end with the overhanging sticky part and used that to attach it to the stick. Then repeat for the other side of the bow tie.

If you want to get really fancy, add in the bat face to the center.

There you have it! Your Jack Skellington Cake Pops! Your little Ghouls and Goblins are going to fall in love with Jack all over again!

If you know me at all you KNOW that I LOVE the movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas“. I mean I really, really love it. I actually watch it at least twice a week. I have my tablet set up in the kitchen with speakers and that movie is on while I’m baking and cooking (I switch between that and Alice in Wonderland). It’s my “cooking movie” haha.

I don’t know why I love it so much, but I just do. Side note — if you want to win my heart forever, get me or make me a The Nightmare Before Christmas birthday cake! Really, that’s how much I love it. haha. It probably goes hand in hand with my love of Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, it’s almost here!!! Only a few more days! So I’ve got something special for you! Amazingly super easy, Jack Skellington Oreo Pops!! Jack Skellington, please tell me that you know who Jack Skellington is! If you don’t I just don’t feel like we can be friends….

If you need a refresher, Jack Skellington is the Pumpkin King! He’s the main character in “The Nightmare Before Christmas” aka the best movie ever. OK well maybe not the BEST movie ever but it’s on up there for me.

Last year Karyn from Pint Sized Baker made these Jack Skellington Cake Pops and I just loved them! I wanted to make them for our Halloween Party this year and wanted to make a batch for #SundaySupper but since I was being lazy  am being super awesome on my Clean Eating Challenge, I thought that having a bunch of cake pops around wasn’t such a good idea. Humm… what else is round? The dang Halloween Oreos that I’ve been eyeing on the top of my refrigerator haha.

Those will work! So with inspiration from my favorite movie and Karyn from Pint Sized Baker, I give you Jack Skellington Oreo Pops!!

UPDATE! I know a lot of people are having trouble with the Wilton markers, they use to work wonders but the past few packs I’ve bought have been dried out. I recently switched to these AmeriColor Black Edible Markers and I love them!

You should be able to find the Americolor pens at Hobby Lobby, Michael’s and maybe even Walmart.

Another Tip! My Friend Kayrn made Jack Cake pops and she used Black Cookie Icing for her faces! That might work here too!

“The Nightmare Before Christmas” is one of my favorite movies and I love this Jack inspired treat- Angie, Southern Halloween Queen

Do you know how many people sent me baby themed Nightmare Before Christmas ideas when I was pregnant with Jax and how many people still do? haha It’s a lot, and I love them all. Someone even sent me a few pictures for a Nightmare Before Christmas / Jack Skellington nursery that they had seen online!

No, even though I love Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas we did not go with the Jack Skellington nursery for the baby. We went with a Dumbo theme but that doesn’t mean that I won’t be dressing our little one up like Jack Skellington one day! haha

One of my best friends had her little girl 3 days before I had Jax and she suggested that one Halloween we dress our kiddos up as Jack and Sally! haha I’m totally for that!

So you know I couldn’t let Halloween get close without making some kind if Jack Skellington dessert right?!? I mean, I already have quite a few Jack Skellington desserts on the blog for Halloween but I needed another.

I’m thinking that maybe I’ll make it a tradition to share 1 new Jack Skellington recipe with y’all ever Halloween!

So far I have these Jack Skellington desserts on the blog:

So let me tell you something about these Jack Skellington faces on these Jack Skellington Rice Krispie Treats.  Look at this photo above, that face was drawn on with a black edible marker.

The other faces that you see on the other Jack Skellington Rice Krispie Treats were drawn on with chocolate candy melts.

I tried the black edible marker first. It looked pretty good but it wasn’t as dark as I wanted. It also had trouble writing after I was painting the 3rd one. So If you want to use the edible marker you may want to get a few of them.

So I went with the second option for the rest of them. I used Chocolate candy melts to pipe Jack Skellington faces onto the Jack Skellington Rice Krispie Treats and I loved how they turned out.

I used regular chocolate because that’s just what I had but you could also use the black candy melts that you can get from the hobby stores. Either one will work perfectly!

Also, I first made these with just the tops covered in white chocolate and I just didn’t like the way they looked.  That’s why I just went ahead and dipped the entire circle into the white chocolate. Plus, I think I’ve told y’all this before, but if not, I LOVE chocolate covered rice krispie treats haha.
